An explanation of how Facebook manages private groups:
· In a private group, you have to be a member to see who the other members are.
· To see the members of a group:
From your Feed, click Groups in the left menu and select your group. If you don't see Groups, click See more.
Click Members (for private groups) at the top of the group. You might need to select More first.
· The member list will update automatically as people join and leave the group.
· Members can invite their Facebook friends to join a group.
From your Feed, click Groups in the left menu and select your group. If you don't see Groups, click See more.
Click + Invite below the cover photo.
Select Invite Facebook friends.
Select the names of the friends you want to invite. You can also type a friend's name in the search bar.
Click Send invites.
Members can only invite a limited number of people to join each day.
In the members list, you can see people who have been invited and approved, but have not yet accepted. They can preview the group and its posts.
When someone invites you to a group and that invitation is approved by a member, admin or moderator, you'll receive a notification that you've been invited to a group. You'll be able to preview the group and decide if you want to join.
While you're in preview mode: You won't be able to post or comment on other people's posts in the group, you won't be able to invite others to the group, you will be able to react to posts in the group.
Members of the group can see that you're previewing the group in the members list, but those who aren't members of the group won't see you in the members list. You won't be included in the total member count, you will be able to see the group's members list and content. You can use preview mode for 28 days, and if you interact with posts your invitation will extend for an additional 28 days. If you don't interact with group posts for 28 days, preview mode will expire.
Hopefully this will make staying in touch with family members, and inviting family members to join the Facebook group easier.
